I'm a 16 year old girl in High School and i love sports and disagree with most of whats being said here. I've grown up in a sports oriented family, i even chose to take up hockey at 10 which turned many heads in my family since hockey is supposed to be for guys only. I've played on lots of guys teams and their always the same the season starts out with most of the team thinking i'm not good enough and at the end they all accept me and realize that girls can be good at sports. On top of everything i'm a short 5 foot nothing blonde, girly girl and right when i walk into the rink i stick out like a sore thumb... I'm hoping to pursue a career in sports broadcasting and a dream job would be to work on TSN.I love and play almost every sport and almost every girl i know at least has some basic knowledge on sports. Right now i'm playing in an all girls league and all the girls with boyfriends have them come out to games. Most of them actually even ask to come watch! There's not lingerie hockey league so i think that argument loses. I might not know a lot yet but one thing i do know is that girls have to try 3 times as hard as guys just to get a quarter of the exposure! Times are changing and it's only a matter of time before women's sports starts getting the credit it deserves. I'd also just like to say that i'm not trying to bash,I have nothing against men's sports, i'm always down to watch some Saturday night NHL or Sunday night NFL! Hope this changes some minds.

Wikipedia also slaps on a Recent Death template ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Recent_death ) that specifically says that some information may not be reliable. It was on the Rypien article, posted at 1:29PM on the day of his passing. A big warning flag that was apparently missed.

I also see it along the same lines as the false Pat Burns death report, where prompted a ton of outrage.

Do newspapers typically have access to Canadian Newsstand or another archival program? If so, there's no real excuse to use Wikipedia because other, more useful tools are available.

Yes, shit happens, but this seems to be a pretty serious mistake given the context, which I don't think was given enough attention. It just seems incredibly unlikely that a boss who publicly called one of their employees 'crazy' would get off scot-free.

Doing something like this when I was a student for an assignment would have gotten me an F for the assignment and the possibility of expulsion, depending on the severity of copying I did from Wikipedia.

It just seems really improbable that it wasn't a quick copy/paste job from Wikipedia. If that's the case, this mess could have been avoided pretty easily. That's what bothers me so much about it.

Gillis is apparently exploring legal options over this (how or what specifically, I'm not sure), so I view it as being a rather serious issue, to boot.

Listen up. The only real way to save the Coyotes at this point is with this:

"The Green Bay Packers Board of Directors is the organization that serves as the owner of record for the Green Bay Packers football club. The Packers have been a publicly owned, non-profit corporation since August 18, 1923."

That's right, a board of directors type of ownership where anybody, anywhere who wants the Coyotes to stay in Glendale can purchase a stake into the team. Best of all, the taxpayers of Glendale (especially the ones who don't support the team) don't have to fork over a single penny if they don't want to. Remember, if the taxpayers are not paying for it, then Goldwater backs off.

I know that the NHL board of governors are not crazy about a Green Bay Packers type of ownership, but if they (and the Glendale city council) really want the Coyotes to stay, then they have no choice but to make an exception to the Coyotes and allow them to have a board of directors type of ownership.

So for those of you who want the Coyotes to stay, spread the word. Get this message posted to as many places as possible while there's still time and if you can get this message to Gary Bettman and the B.O.G., that's even better. With everybody's help, the Coyotes will be saved! So spread the word right now or watch the Coyotes relocate to Winnipeg or Kansas City instead.

Good post Andrew. I often squirm when one team wins because of their "youthful energy" while another wins because of their "veteran experience". It doesn't really make a difference. Luck is such a determinant of the outcome, and all team talent can do is persuade the coin to fall in your favour.
